Simbu to replace Vijay Sethupathi in Kiruthiga’s new film?

Simbu1Reports say that director Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi has decided to replace Vijay Sethupathi with Simbu in her second film as director. It may be recalled that Kiruthiga, wife of producer-distributor-hero Udhayanidhi, debuted as director with Vanakkam Chennai which release in October last year.

Starring ‘Mirchi’ Shiva and Priya Anand in lead roles, the fun-filled film did a decent business at the box-office and established Kiruthiga, who had till then been making only short-films and documentaries, as a director to reckon with in Kollywood. Even after an year after the release of her debut film as director, Kiruthiga hasn’t yet started work on her second project.

It turns out that Vijay Sethupathi was one of the heroes who came forward voluntarily to star in Kiruthiga’s new film. It is further reported that Kiruthiga, who narrated the script to Vijay Sethupathi and even secured his call-sheet dates to commence the shoot of the untitled film, had a change of heart and decided that Simbu would be better in the role as compared to Vijay Sethupathi.

After getting the nod from husband and producer Udhayanidhi, Kiruthiga is now said to have replaced Vijay Sethupathi with Simbu. The reason given for the replacement is that as per the script, the hero would have to appear in four get-ups and romance four heroines. Going by Simbu’s past record, it is no wonder that Kiruthiga decided that he would be a better bet to take on the role!
